We are looking for an experienced conservator to join our
Preservation Services team.

Archives New Zealand acts as the memory of government. It oversees
the creation, management and preservation of Government records to
ensure the accountability and efficiency of Government and its
agencies are met now and in the future.

The Archives New Zealand Preservation Services Team based in
Wellington Head Office has a vacancy for a suitably qualified
full-time Conservator.  As the sole Conservator reporting to the
Manager Preservation Services, you will join a small friendly team
of eight to provide conservation services across a broad range of
formats. The position involves providing remedial treatment and
preventive solutions, contributing to the development and operation
of preservation facilities, condition surveying, preservation advice
to staff, government agencies and the public, preparation of items
for loan and exhibition, development and delivery of training to
staff and government agencies,  providing disaster planning and
response services.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

    A tertiary qualification in the conservation of cultural
    material or equivalent

    Professional experience as a conservator, particularly across
    the broad range of formats in archives conservation

    Excellent communication and self-management skills
