Studentships for 2007/2008

RCA/V&A Conservation is a programme of postgraduate learning and
research provided jointly by the Royal College of Art and the
Victoria and Albert Museum. The programme works in association with
Imperial College, London, and in collaboration with other museums,
galleries, heritage organisations, and research institutions. We
offer MA, MPhil, and PhD degrees in a wide range of specialist
areas.

MA studentships run full-time for two or, in some cases, three
years. Arrangements may also be made to study part-time in
exceptional situations. The specific areas of study for the
forthcoming academic year are listed below. Details are now
available on our website. Additional studentships may be offered at
a later date. We also offer in-post MAs for conservation
professionals. Please see <URL:http://www.rca.ac.uk/> for details.

Conservation of European Portrait Miniatures (with the V&A)
Conservation Science (with The British Museum)
Preventive Conservation for Heritage Collections Management
       (with English Heritage)
       Preventive Conservation (with the V&A)

Research studentships: MPhil research programmes are for a minimum
of two years full-time, or the equivalent part-time. PhD research
programmes are for a minimum of three-years full-time, or the
equivalent part-time.

RCA/V&A Conservation aims to support research in three broad subject
areas. We welcome enquiries about these and will also consider novel
research proposals from individuals.

    Materials and practice in art
Historical, social, and artistic contexts for conservation
    Decision contexts for conservation

Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Programme before
submitting an application form. The Royal College of Art is
committed to equal opportunities for all and in particular welcomes
applications from black and minority ethnic students.

Deadlines for applications will be 20 February 2007.
