ICON Ethnography Group

The Ethnography Group of ICON aims to act as a conservation resource
for its members, museum professionals and private individuals. The
Group seeks to develop the science and practice of conservation for
the care and preservation of ethnographic artefacts and collections.

For the year 2007, the Group will organise a workshop with the aim
of addressing a particular issue encountered by conservators in the
treatment of ethnographic material and to offer the opportunity to
impart training expertise to their members. The Group Committee
plans to organise this workshop in the Easter period and will take
place in London or Winchester. A decision regarding the theme of the
workshop has not yet been taken. However, the Committee suggest the
conservation of feathers may be a relevant topic for many
ethnographic conservators and is one not yet fully developed in the
framework of a workshop. We would like to have your opinion and
ideas so that this event meets the needs of the Group members. Your
comments and suggestions are crucial to the development of the
Ethnography group. If you have any additional questions please do
not hesitate to contact us. The details of the Committee members are
posted at <URL:http://www.icon.org.uk/>. We are looking forward to
hearing from you.
