Annual stipend of  UKP14,000 with  UKP1,500  study/travel allowance
Historic Scotland, TCRE Group, invites applications for three 18
month research internships and one twelve month research internship
based at The Historic Scotland Conservation Centre in Edinburgh.

Research Internship in Laser Cleaning of Consolidated Stone

An 18-month internship is offered in the research of the effect of
laser cleaning on consolidated stone. This internship will establish
the effects of laser cleaning on conservation treatments,
particularly consolidants that have been applied to stone.

Research Internship in Anti-Graffiti Coatings:

    An 18-month internship is offered in the research of graffiti
    management on stone substrates. This internship will investigate
    the effect that barriers have on the stone substrate, and will
    investigate the cycle of repeated application and removal of the
    barriers.

Research Internship in facings and adhesives used on Scottish
Renaissance Tempera Paintings:

    An 18-month internship is offered in the research of attaching
    facing protection to tempera paintings. This internship will
    provide research to establish alternative materials with
    improved properties and longevity over existing methods.

Research Internship on the Effects of Climate Change on Built
Heritage:

    A 12-month internship is offered in the research of the threat
    to built heritage offered by climate change. This internship
    will conduct an extensive scoping survey to identify and
    prioritise risks afforded by climate change to the Scottish
    built heritage and efforts being made to combat these effects.
    Suitable areas for further research will be identified.

Apply by letter, enclosing a Curriculum Vitae with the names and
addresses of at least two referees familiar with the applicant's
background. Applicants must also provide a separate 200-300 word
statement of their interest in the internship.
