Guildhall Library (17.5 hrs per week)

UKP12,350-UKP14,675 p.a. inclusive

We are looking for an enthusiastic conservator to job share this
prints and drawings conservation post, working primarily on material
in our Prints and Maps collections.

Guildhall Library Print Room contains the Library's collection of
engravings, drawings, maps and photographs relating mainly to London
history. The majority of the prints and drawings are London
topographical views from the 17th to 20th Century and we have an
unrivalled collection of London maps dating from the 16th Century to
the present day. There are also large collections of ephemera, Old
Master prints and 18,000 photographs dating from 1850's to date. The
St Paul's Cathedral Collection includes over 200 drawings from the
office of Sir Christopher Wren.

Currently the Conservation Section consists of three Conservators
and a Conservation Technician reporting to the Senior Conservator.
Candidates must hold a recognised professional qualification and
have at least 3 years post qualification experience. Proven skills
in the conservation of prints and drawings, together with a broad
knowledge of conservation and preservation issues, are essential, as
are the ability to work both in a team and independently and
excellent time management and communication skills. Experience of
photographic conservation and preparation for loans and exhibitions
will be an advantage, as will professional accreditation.
