Internship
Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL)
Maastricht, The Netherlands

SRAL was founded in 1986 to preserve the cultural heritage within
the Province of Limburg (The Netherlands). The Provincial Government
of Limburg subsidizes the conservation of art objects held in state
or public collections and churches throughout the province. Over the
last 20 years SRAL has grown to become a National and International
Institute with departments for the Conservation of Paintings (Panel
and Canvas), Sculpture, Paper and Historic Interiors. The Institute
also houses a Post-graduate (5 year) training in three disciplines:
Conservation of Easel paintings and Polychrome Surfaces, Historic
Interiors and Modern Art. This BA/Ma programme is now under the
supervision of the University of Amsterdam.

In 2006 SRAL moved back to recently refurbished studios in the
Wiebengahal building, situated next to the BonnefantenMuseum, in
Maastricht. The Institute's newly equipped studios are spacious and
house a team of nine conservators and educators, in addition to the
post-graduate students. Teams of conservators from the Institute
also work 'on site' conserving and restoring the interiors of
historic buildings.

SRAL offers yearly a number of six month Internships within four
departments.

The interns are closely supervised by the relevant department heads:

Conservation of Panel Paintings - Kees Schreuder
Conservation of Polychrome Sculpture - Arnold Truyen
Conservation of Canvas Paintings - Jos van Och
    Historic Interiors - Angelique Friederichs

Interns are paid a monthly stipend of Euro600 (euros) on completion
of a recognised training programme, however unpaid internships are
available as part of a practical module of a training programme.
Longer or cross-departmental internships can also be arranged.
Internships are limited to EU nationals, although non-EU nationals
can apply if in possession of relevant visa and working permits.

The Institute would now like to accept applications for Internships
for the following year 2007. Please address all applications to
