Exhibition Preparation Collections Care Manager, Objects Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Under the general direction of the Chief of Conservation and Collections Care Management, will design and fabricate custom mounts systems with earthquake damage mitigation considerations for 3-dimensional objects and supervise object installations for in-house and traveling exhibitions. Will oversee contractors and junior collections care specialists on mount-making and installation projects; communicate with project managers, designers, conservators, registrars, and facilities in planning and production of exhibition installations and assist in preparation of budgets for exhibition installations. Will research materials and develop fabrication techniques and strategies; handle and coordinate transportation of related objects within the museum; create and produce mounting records and reports; and order and maintain shop materials and supplies. Must have good communication skills and good problem-solving abilities, often working as part of a team. Requires a bachelor's degree with emphasis in fine arts is required; at least five to seven years prior museum/art handling experience, preferably including a supervisory role; knowledge of fabrication techniques, as well as knowledge of conservation concerns, and earthquake damage mitigation and excellent communication skills. Must work well under pressure and as part of a team.
