SOLINET, Inc., the Southeastern Library Network, is pleased to present: Archives Preservation: Holdings Maintenance Regents University Library, Virginia Beach, VA 31 Oct 2006 9am-4pm Holdings maintenance, the basic preservation procedures incorporated into arrangement and description duties, is recognized as a fundamental component of archives preservation. It represents a practical approach to preserving large groups of records housed in repositories and can significantly benefit an institution, regardless of its size or scope. The emphasis is on stabilizing materials (for example, by removing damaging fasteners), re-housing, cleaning, flattening rolled or folded documents, encapsulation, photocopying, and segregating fragile items.
