We offer an exciting opportunity for a photographic conservator, or
paper conservator with interest and experience in photographic
materials, to play a key role in our Designated Challenge Fund
project 'Hidden Histories'. Responsibilities will focus on
identification, re-storage and first aid treatment of photographic
images from the museums' outstanding local history collections. You
will be self-motivated, have creative and flexible problem solving
skills and welcome the responsibility of managing your own time and
devising your own solutions to conservation issues. Working with a
wide variety of museum staff and outside specialists, you must also
enjoy using your communication skills to forge effective
relationships.

You should have a recognised qualification in photographic or paper
conservation and ideally 2-3 years post-training experience. Work
experience in a museum or archive environment will be seen as an
advantage. As Assistant Conservator you will be part of a lively
conservation department which values colleagues with a co-operative
and positive outlook.

acknowledged as a centre of cultural excellence. Bristol City
Council is transforming its cultural facilities with investment in
its Museums, Galleries and Archives Service thanks partly to the
