Call for papers:
"Stained glass window techniques in the 19th century"
Forum for the Conservation and Restoration of Stained Glass Windows
Namur, Belgium
14-16 June 2007

Organising committee: The Comite Wallon pour le Vitrail (Wallon
Stained Glass Window Committee) in association with the Corpus
Vitrearum of Belgium; the International Committee of the Corpus
Vitrearum for the Conservation of Stained Glass Windows; the
Institut du Patrimoine Wallon (Wallon Heritage Institute)

The theme "Stained glass window techniques in the 19th century"
covers both the techniques used to make stained-glass windows in the
19th century and the specific problems that these have caused for
their conservation now, the basic materials (manufacture and
suppliers of glass, lead, colours), how workshops were organised,
and training issues.

We are looking for papers of two types, lasting 10/15 minutes or 20
minutes:

    Theoretical, technical and methodological approaches

Presentation of practical cases, of a site problem, particular
    phenomenon, specific technique, etc.

The papers, followed by discussions, may be given in French, English
or German. The texts of the papers will be published in the
documents distributed at the symposium.

Proposed summaries (see below) should be returned by 15 September
2006 at the latest.

Confirmation that your paper has been accepted, on the basis of the
summary supplied, will be given by 20 October 2006 at the latest.

Texts should reach us by 20 December 2006, in the form of articles
or, if applicable, shorter information sheets presenting practical
cases, specific observations, etc. They will be published in
French, English or German with a summary in the other two languages.

The registration fee for the Forum (200 Euro) will cover the written
papers, coffee breaks, lunches and coach transport between the Namur
hotels and the Moulins de Beez, as well as the reception organised
by the Institut du Patrimoine Wallon at the Centre de
Perfectionnement des Metiers du Patrimoine in Amay and the visits on
Saturday 16 June. Speakers whose papers are accepted will not have
to pay the registration fee.

Information about registering for the Forum, the programme, the fee
and hotel bookings will be available later.

We hope that you will be able to join us in Namur in 2007.
