Call for papers: "Stained glass window techniques in the 19th century" Forum for the Conservation and Restoration of Stained Glass Windows Namur, Belgium 14-16 June 2007 Organising committee: The Comite Wallon pour le Vitrail (Wallon Stained Glass Window Committee) in association with the Corpus Vitrearum of Belgium; the International Committee of the Corpus Vitrearum for the Conservation of Stained Glass Windows; the Institut du Patrimoine Wallon (Wallon Heritage Institute) The theme "Stained glass window techniques in the 19th century" covers both the techniques used to make stained-glass windows in the 19th century and the specific problems that these have caused for their conservation now, the basic materials (manufacture and suppliers of glass, lead, colours), how workshops were organised, and training issues. We are looking for papers of two types, lasting 10/15 minutes or 20 minutes: Theoretical, technical and methodological approaches Presentation of practical cases, of a site problem, particular phenomenon, specific technique, etc. The papers, followed by discussions, may be given in French, English or German. The texts of the papers will be published in the documents distributed at the symposium. Proposed summaries (see below) should be returned by 15 September 2006 at the latest. Confirmation that your paper has been accepted, on the basis of the summary supplied, will be given by 20 October 2006 at the latest. Texts should reach us by 20 December 2006, in the form of articles or, if applicable, shorter information sheets presenting practical cases, specific observations, etc. They will be published in French, English or German with a summary in the other two languages. The registration fee for the Forum (200 Euro) will cover the written papers, coffee breaks, lunches and coach transport between the Namur hotels and the Moulins de Beez, as well as the reception organised by the Institut du Patrimoine Wallon at the Centre de Perfectionnement des Metiers du Patrimoine in Amay and the visits on Saturday 16 June. Speakers whose papers are accepted will not have to pay the registration fee. Information about registering for the Forum, the programme, the fee and hotel bookings will be available later.
