Painting Conservation Internship The Vancouver Museum The Vancouver Museum is offering a 5 month Post-Graduate Internship in Painting Conservation from October 2, 2006 to February 23, 2007, partially funded by Young Canada Works. The Intern will survey the Museum's painting collection (approximately 300 items). The Intern will do some immediate storage upgrades and plan a future major storage upgrade. The Intern will also treat several paintings, including a reverse painted glass window. Candidates will be recent graduates from a recognized conservation training program with a specialization in the conservation of paintings. Candidates should have a solid knowledge of and basic skills in painting conservation. Candidates will have experience with computer software, including Microsoft Word and Access; experience with Adobe Photoshop is desirable. Candidates will have a good understanding of conservation photography, including digital photography. Candidates *must* be legally entitled to work in Canada, under 30 years of age on October 2, 2006, registered in the YCW candidate inventory and not have participated in or been paid under any other internship program that is funded under the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy.
