Subject: Sponsorship for attending IIC Congress
Sponsored Attendance at Congress The Object in Context: Crossing Conservation Boundaries IIC Congress 2006 Munich, 28 August 2006 - 1 September 2006 IIC is delighted to announce that, thanks to the generosity of the Getty Foundation, sponsored attendance at the 2006 IIC Congress is available, with the aim of extending the benefits of this event to participants from developing countries and Central and Eastern Europe who would otherwise find it difficult or impossible to attend. Application will be open to individuals from developing countries and Central and Eastern Europe currently in Conservation-related employment in either public or private capacity. Applicants must demonstrate in their CV prior formal or significant informal training in conservation or conservation science and must have been in practice for at least one year since the completion of training. A brief statement should be provided in English describing how attendance at the Congress would be of benefit to the individual and to conservation in his/her country. The application should be supported by one senior professional conservator, who should be named, with affiliations, on the application document. Application is not open to those currently in training. Students have been able to apply for support to the Brommelle Fund which is one of the major funds of IIC exclusively dedicated to support students. (Application to this Fund is now closed). Applications will be accepted by Fax: (+44 7839 5975) or by email (iic [at] iiconservation__org) and should be received by 27 July 2006. Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified as soon as a decision has been made. Successful applicants will be informed of the arrangements for payment. The grant will cover in full the registration fee for the Congress (which automatically includes membership of IIC for one year), including attendance at formal social events and an excursion, and will pay for economy flights, modest hotel accommodation and a per diem sum.
