The Division of Libraries at New York University (NYU) seeks a
Conservation Technician to perform a variety of conservation
treatments, including cloth, paper and leather bindings. Identify
and document repair needs. Maintain conservation treatment log,
inventory of supplies and a clean work area. Assist with special
projects and handle conservation functions. Assist with maintaining
and updating a variety of files. Monitor environmental control
equipment. Photocopy, collate and Fax: materials. Pick up and
deliver materials, messages, books, etc. Report to the Conservation
Librarian.

Qualifications: 1 year of book conservation experience, including
knowledge of current book and paper conservation techniques,
preferably in an institutional library setting. Proficiency using
conservation equipment and tools. A portfolio of completed treatment
work is required at time of interview. Preferred: Familiarity with
automated library systems, bibliographic citations and library
experience.
