Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London will hold a Conservation Open Day on Tuesday 27 June 2006, 2pm designed to give prospective students the opportunity to participate in the following programme of speakers and tours: Sherry Doyal, Deputy Head of Collections and Conservation Care from the Horniman Museum will talk on the importance of Conservation A guest speaker from ICON (The Institute of Conservation) will present the professional ethics of Conservation Subject leaders in Conservation at Camberwell will highlight their teaching skills in conservation practise, science and museology reflecting an international reputation with graduates working in many important museums and institutions worldwide A tour of the Conservation Studios focusing on Book Conservation projects in progress including a demonstration A tour of the exhibition showcasing the work of graduating students, the Conservation Department and facilities The Open Day is ideal for prospective students who have an interest in science as well as art, illustrating that Conservation combines craft skills, scientific and technical knowledge with sensitivity to historical and cultural values.
