Dry stripping bronze paint

The adhesion between bronze paint and the original gilded surface
underneath is such that dry stripping with small scalpels is
possible. However it is very time consuming.
A possible solution to this problem could be the application of an
adhesive on top of the bronze paint that can be peeled away together
with the bronze paint. Can anyone provide information about this
method?
