Care and Handling of Public Library Materials

    An online introductory class designed to aid public libraries in
    developing basic preservation strategies based on real-world
    issues. For example, providing protection to library materials
    (books, periodicals, videotapes, CDs, DVD) by performing basic
    care and handling practices and providing proper storage

Caring for Originals During Scanning Projects

    Explore how digitization provides an opportunity to stabilize,
    re-house, and even repair materials within your collections.
    Discussions include care and handling techniques before, during,
    and after scanning to ensure that the original objects are not
    damaged during the scanning process; environmental controls;
    equipment guidelines; and the preservation issues that need to
    be considered before embarking on a digitization project.
