Senior Furniture Conservator Chicago Conservation Center The Chicago Conservation Center <URL:http://www.chicagoconservation.com> is expanding its Furniture Department and is seeking a Senior Furniture Conservator to assist the Chief Conservator in the daily treatment schedule and operations of The Center's department. The successful candidate will work in a department of three conservators and will report to the Chief Furniture Conservator. The position requires a minimum of 6-8 years of experience in all aspects of the structural stabilization of historic furniture, original surface recovery, de-restoration and the preservation of original surfaces. In addition to excellent woodworking skills, the candidate must possess strong documentation and communication skills. The Chicago Conservation Center was established twenty-three years ago and currently has a staff including 22 Conservators and 8 Framers as well as Art Handlers and Administrative support staff. Departments include Paintings, Works of Art on Paper, Frames and Gilded Objects, Furniture, Textiles, Murals, Disaster Response, Custom Framing, Shipping and Installation. Clients include a prestigious list of private collectors, museums, galleries and corporate collections. The Center occupies a full-floor open-plan loft space with 14,000 square feet and top floor views of Chicago with North, East and South exposures, and an 8,000 square foot west-side facility for furniture.
