Subject: Sealant for poured concrete
I am posting this on behalf of an architect John Koppe <jkoppe [at] kwarch__com> who is in charge of redesigning a storage space for archive materials. The space is 72,000 square foot area, and will be temperature and RH controlled. The floor is poured concrete, and covers an area that is not controlled. Half of the space (30-40,000 square feet is already storing books--too many books to easily and economically move. The architect is well aware of the problems that the chemicals in a floor sealer could/would pose for the books. His question is : what *type* of floor sealer is better to use to avoid damaging the books that will need to remain in the storage area while the sealer is applied? He wants to know type--for instance is water-based better than alkyd-based?
