The Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago is seeking a qualified candidate who
will work with the Executive Director of Libraries and the library
staff to establish policies, priorities and procedures for
preservation of Libraries' collections. Establishes standards and
specifications for conservation work. Performs conservation
procedures on Library collections to enhance usability and
preservation. Advises and works with curatorial departments on book
and object conservation and display.

A Successful Candidate will have Graduate degree from a recognized
conservation training or book arts program with a minimum five years
post-graduate experience in bookbinding and conservation, or
equivalent advanced formal training with extensive experience in
book conservation.  Knowledge of preservation theory, standards and
ethics of conservation practice, and art historiography is required.
Must possess excellent communication skills and an ability to work
collegially with library, curatorial, and museum conservation staff.
Must have supervisory experience and the ability to prioritize and
direct workflow required.
