Internship in Paper Conservation Chester Beatty Library The Heritage Council of Ireland and The Chester Beatty Library are pleased to offer a one-year internship in paper conservation. The internship, based at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, will begin in October 2006. This is the first internship to be funded by member agencies of the Council of National Cultural Institutions (CNCI) as part of the promotion of conservation standards across Ireland. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Library's Conservation Manager and be involved in every aspect of work carried out in the Conservation Laboratory. This will include condition reporting and treatment of specific collections as well as working on exhibitions, loans, surveys and housing projects. The intern will be encouraged to carry out a short research project on an aspect of the collection, the subject of which will be determined once the internship has begun. Candidates should be recent graduates of a recognised conservation training program (or have equivalent experience). The applicant should have enough experience to be able to work with a degree of independence. Stipend: Euro25,000 per year (subject to normal PRSI and PAYE deductions) Deadline for applications is: Friday 23 June 2006 (no later than 12 noon).
