Internship in Paper Conservation
Chester Beatty Library

The Heritage Council of Ireland and The Chester Beatty Library are
pleased to offer a one-year internship in paper conservation. The
internship, based at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, will begin
in October 2006. This is the first internship to be funded by member
agencies of the Council of National Cultural Institutions (CNCI) as
part of the promotion of conservation standards across Ireland.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the
Library's Conservation Manager and be involved in every aspect of
work carried out in the Conservation Laboratory. This will include
condition reporting and treatment of specific collections as well as
working on exhibitions, loans, surveys and housing projects. The
intern will be encouraged to carry out a short research project on
an aspect of the collection, the subject of which will be determined
once the internship has begun.

Candidates should be recent graduates of a recognised conservation
training program (or have equivalent experience). The applicant
should have enough experience to be able to work with a degree of
independence.

Stipend: Euro25,000 per year (subject to normal PRSI and PAYE
deductions)

Deadline for applications is: Friday 23 June 2006 (no later than 12
noon).

Interviews will take place in Dublin in the week beginning 17 July
2006.
