Subject: Internship sought
**** Moderator's comments: Please respond directly to sender and if of general interest post it here as well I am student in the conservation-restoration of painted works of art department, in 4th year (equivalent to the 1st year of Master), at the High School of Art in Avignon (France). Currently, I am starting diploma work about the restoration of a Japanese armour for horses, belonging to the Musee d'Histoire Naturelle (Museum of Natural History) in Lyon. It may be armour for ceremonies not for fights. It is essentially made of gilded and lacquered leather, gilded and lacquered paper or cartapesta, canvas, and is inlaid with mother of pearl and lacquered wood. So, I am looking for an internship in order to learn the restoration of lacquerware with specialists, during about 2 months, in Japan or somewhere else. Moreover, I am trying to find information about the history, the function and the meaning of this kind of armour. If anyone some some information or advice about this subject, it would be very nice to communicate it to me.
