    This course will be devoted to the practice of gold finishing
    and will be along similar lines to the course of 4 February
    2006.  Those who have already attended Steve's course in 2005
    will now how much there is to cover, so this course will be
    aimed at both those new to gold finishing and those who have
    attended the first workshop and wish to continue practicing new
    found skills.

Workshop on Covering Techniques for Fine Bindings

    Content of course: Practice the skill of leather paring and
    finish with covering a book in leather.

Workshop on Paper Repair and Conservation of Antique Books
August 5 2006
10am-6pm

Tutor: Donata Santorine

    Content of course: Learn about paper conservation, traditional
    techniques such as Japanese paper and paste as well as sponge
    and paper pulp.  You will have the opportunity to explore both
    traditional techniques in conservation of paper as well as more
    modern methods.  You will learn enough to be able to carry out
    basic repairs on paper in your own home.  You will also learn
    about some considerations necessary in the undertaking of paper
    conservation.
