Symposium 2007: potential contributors Concerning CCI's upcoming Symposium 2007: Preserving Aboriginal Heritage: Technical and Traditional Approaches, Sept. 24-28, 2007 in Ottawa, Canada, I would like to clarify that both national and international contributions are welcome. The focus of this Symposium is on presenting information useful for those who care for Aboriginal objects and collections in Canada, both in a museum setting and in the Native communities. Please note: * North American Native material culture spreads across Canada and the USA irrespective of borders. American experiences are most likely to show strong and useful parallels to Canadian experiences. * Native objects originating from Canada are now in museums around the world, thus expertise on their preservation is found worldwide. * As well, useful parallels can be drawn from anywhere in the world of interactions and collaborations between museums and the communities from which ethnographic objects originate. * And finally, expertise exists worldwide relevant to specific preservation materials or techniques - this information is useful universally. Info on the Symposium and on the Call for Contributions can be found at <URL:http://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/symposium/index_e.aspx> Please contact me for further advice or information.
