XXII Congress of the Brazilian Association of Conservators and
Restorers of Cultural Property (ABRACOR)

Main theme:

    "Preservation of the Cultural Heritage--Sustainable
     Management and Development: Perspectives"

The Associacio Brasileira de Conservadores e Restauradores de Bens
Culturais (ABRACOR) [Brazilian Association of Conservators and
Restorers of Cultural Property] will hold its 12th Congress together
with the Instituto do Patrimonio Historico e Artistico Nacional
(IPHAN) [National Historical and Artistic Heritage], 4th Regional
Supervision, which will take place in Fortaleza, Ceara (Brazil),
from August 28 - September 1, 2006.

Themes of interest: Management, Administration and Sustainable
Development of Cultural Heritage; Heritage Education; Preventive
Conservation; Preparation of emergency plans and safeguarding
brigades; Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property;
Professional Training and Education; Conservation Science applied to
the Cultural Heritage Preservation.

Lecturers: Among the invited lecturers, we will count on Professor
Ulpiano Bezerra de Menezes (Universidade de Sao Paulo - Brazil),
Niede Guidon (archaeologist, Brazil), Sonia Rabello de Castro
(councilor at the state council of Heritage Protection, Brazil),
Howard Besser (New York University, USA), Nieves Valentin (Heritage
Institute, Spain), and Isabel Iglesias (Consultant of Madrid's Paper
Restoration, Spain).

Registration and Costs: The registration form and fees for members
and non-members will be available at

accommodation in Fortaleza.

Target audience: Conservators, restorers, conservation scientists,
librarians, archivists, museologists, archaeologists,
paleontologists, architects, documentation specialists, students,
and general public.

Deadlines for submission of papers and posters: Submission of
abstracts: May 15, 2006 by e-mail or the conventional mails (in this
case, it should *also* be sent in disk or CD)

Selection of papers and communication to the authors: June 20, 2006
by e-mail or, if necessary, by the conventional mails

Submission of final paper: July 30, 2006 only by the mails with copy
in disk or CD

Guidelines for submitting abstracts:

    1.  The abstract of the paper should comprise at least 01 (one)
        and at most 02 (two) pages, including images, charts and
        bibliographic data.

    2.  Notes and bibliography should be added at the end of the
        text;

    3.  The author should provide four keywords that best describe
        his/her work.

    4.  A brief CV of at most 01 (one) page should be attached to
        the abstract;

    5.  The abstract and CV should be in Word for Windows, 98 or XP
        version, Arial font in black, number 12. The left and upper
        margins should have 3 cm, whereas the right and lower
        margins 2 cm. The gap between the lines should be Simple;

    6.  A cover page should include the author's name, address,
        telephone number, fax, e-mail, institution he/she belongs
        to, position and work area, or office address for
        self-employed conservator-restorers. Provide information
        whether it is to be presented in free communication or
        poster.

    7.  The abstracts should be sent by e-mail, with reading
        confirmation, to abracor [at] abracor__com__br with a copy to
        szuniga [at] gbl__com__br, or by the mails to Caixa Postal 6557,
        Cep 20030-970 or Rua Sao Jose, 50 sala 902,  Cep 20010-020,
        Centro - Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. In case it is sent by
        the mails, a copy in 3-1-4 disk or CD should be provided.

    8.  The selected paper's final version should be sent by mail to
        one of the above addresses, and must be posted by July 30.
        The papers posted by this date alone will be presented at
        the congress and publicized afterwards.

    9.  The Congress Proceedings will be published afterwards so
        that the discussions during the presentations as well as the
        propositions and/or decisions made during the event are
        included. The abstracts will be printed and given out at the
        Congress.

Languages: Papers in Portuguese, Spanish and English will be
accepted.
