Assistant Conservator Royal Armouries UKP12,675 per annum Fixed Term: May 1, 2006 - September 30, 2006 Part Time, 22.5 hours per week The Hall of Steel forms the heart of the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds whose walls are decorated with trophy displays composed of 2500 objects reminiscent of the historical trophy displays erected by the Tower Armouries from the 17th Century. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Royal Armouries (Leeds), this huge project will form a summer exhibition based on the conservation and recording of the 2575 objects that make up the display in the Hall of Steel. All items will be removed, cleaned, re-labelled and re-installed. You will provide a high level of care and conservation for the museum's collections including; carrying out conservation treatments on collection items, creating and maintaining comprehensive records and preparing condition reports. You will be able to demonstrate your previous commitment to becoming a qualified conservator and some knowledge of relevant conservation treatments would be desirable. Photographic experience, especially digital imaging, and computer literacy would be an advantage although not essential.
