There should be no newline. The Library Binding Institute (LBI) is offering assistance grants to those whose libraries were affected by Hurricanes Katrina and/or Rita. The purpose of these grants is to enhance the professional development and improve the expertise of binding staff and librarians responsible for commercial binding, binding decisions, and binding advocacy in their libraries. These grants have been established by the Library Binding Institute (LBI) for attendance at the morning and/or afternoon modules of the preconference workshop. The grants will cover the half-day registration cost ($99 value) for a staff member or a librarian from libraries affected by Hurricanes Katrina and/or Rita to attend the morning and/or afternoon preconference modules. Applicants can apply for grants to cover their attendance of both modules. More than one person from the same library can apply. Please submit a cover letter with the name and primary contact information. Non-ALA members may also apply. Please include: 1. Description of the person's job, which must include commercial binding preparation responsibilities, binding decision making, and/or binding advocacy. Please indicate the length of time in this position, describe the need for taking this workshop, and how your library was affected by Hurricane Katrina and/or Rita. 2. A one-page vita of nominated candidate. Electronic submissions are preferred. All proposal elements should be collated and submitted in a single Word document attachment via email to Debra Nolan, LBI Executive Director, at dnolan [at] lbibinders__org.
