Subject: Lecture on preservation science
The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress would like to invite you to the next lecture in its series on Topics in Preservation Science (TOPS). On Thursday, March 2, 2006, Dr. Mary F. Striegel (Chief of Materials Research at the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training) will present "The Conservation Scientist Meets Hurricane Katrina". This talk will provide insight into realistic approaches to collection salvage and stabilization in the aftermath of a catastrophe, including an overview of FEMA processes, details of conditions found, and efforts to save collections. The lecture will be held from 10:30 am - 12:00 noon in Dining Room A, Madison Building 6th floor, Library of Congress (101 Independence Avenue SE, Washington, D.C. 20540).
