Cleaning chromium plated candlesticks

I have two chromium plated iron candlesticks.Both are badly
corroded. Does anybody have some
practical for cleaning of that kind of metal objects? Can I
use Mirrachrome paint (Alsa corp.) for retouching of them
(I think that replating cannot be solution)?
