Following a successful bid for Heritage Lottery Funding, work is
about to begin on the comprehensive cleaning and recording of the
Newport Medieval Ship. The project team will use hi-tech FaroArm
recording equipment to gather data which will then be used to
reconstruct the ship. The project offers a great opportunity to be
involved with a major maritime archaeology project using the latest
recording technology. We are looking for three project officers and
two assistants to complete the project over a two year period.

Applications are invited from archaeologists and conservators,
preferably with experience in handling and recording waterlogged
archaeological timbers. However considerable support and training
will be given as we seek to build a highly skilled team. Those
wishing to be considered as Project Officers will need to
demonstrate experience with waterlogged wood assemblages and
supervisory experience.

Applicants must be proficient in a range of IT applications and have
good communication skills. A full driving licence is also
desirable. If you would like to discuss details of these posts
please telephone Mike Lewis on +44 1633 656656 or Kate Hunter on +44

The closing date for applications will be Friday January 27, 2006.
