Applications are invited for this fixed term appointment to 31 March

Monuments of Scotland.

The Sir Basil Spence Archive Project aims to catalogue and conserve
the drawings, photographs, manuscripts and personalia that relate to
the life and work of architect Sir Basil Spence (1907-1976), in
order to make them accessible for public study. The project
includes a programme of education/community workshops, a touring
exhibition and a major exhibition of original material to be held at
the Dean Gallery, Edinburgh in 2007. The project is delivered in
partnership with the National Galleries of Scotland and The
Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Architecture Design and the City.

The paper conservator post is required to undertake preventive and
detailed conservation treatments as part of this exciting project,
including the treatment of items required for exhibition by the
National Galleries of Scotland. A qualification in the conservation
of archives and/or works of art on paper and good communication
skills are essential; experience of working within an archive and
familiarity with IT are advantageous.
