Associate Conservator (1 position) Assistant Conservator (2 positions) Short term contract American Museum of Natural History The American Museum of Natural History seeks to hire three conservators: one at associate level and two at assistant level for short term contracts. Personnel in associated positions as preparators/pre-program conservators are also being sought. The project is to treat the museum's 64 foot-long Northwest Coast canoe, which currently sits inside one of the museum entrance lobbies, prior to its removal to another location. Duties include documentation, cleaning, structural repair and surface compensation. Successful candidates should be graduates of a recognized conservation-training program, with at least 2 year's work, or equivalent, experience. Excellent documentation, treatment and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work well in a group. Salary/job level dependent on experience. Start date middle to end of November, 2005; duration 3-4 months.
