Etherington Conservation Services is in the process of expanding its
staff and facility to accommodate the growth of its service
offerings.  ECS is looking for qualified individuals to meet its
increased staffing requirements.

Etherington Conservation Services invites applicants for the
position of Associate Paper and Photograph Conservator.  The
individual will join the three-member staff of the
Paper/Photographic Conservation Department and assist with
conservation treatments, examination, and preservation initiatives
of client institutions.  The opening is a full-time position in our
regional conservation facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA.

Responsibilities: The Associate Paper/Photograph Conservator is
responsible for the identification and treatment of a wide variety
of artifacts: art on paper, archival documents, and photographic
materials. The candidate must have excellent manual skills and be
capable of compiling time and cost estimates as well as condition
and treatment reports.  Professional interaction with clients is
expected.  The Associate Conservator will assist with the
supervision and training of technician-level staff members and
interns.

Qualifications: Master's degree from a recognized conservation
training program plus a minimum of five years post-graduate
experience or a comparable combination of professional training and
experience treating art on paper and photographic materials is
required.  Good organizational and verbal skills and an ability to
work collegially in a regional conservation environment are
necessary.  Knowledge of preservation theory, standards and ethics
of conservation practice is required.

Skills should include:

    *   Precision hand-skills
    *   Mastery of all routine and complex treatment procedures
        related to paper and photographic materials
    *   Attention to detail
    *   Excellent communication skills
    *   Knowledge of and ability to identify photographic materials
    *   Ability to treat fragile, oversized, and valuable objects
    *   Ability to work efficiently while maintaining conservation
        standards
    *   Ability to work in a group environment
    *   Ability to meet deadlines and assist in coordinating
        workflow
    *   Familiarity with computers, particularly MS Office.
