Institute of Conservation (Icon)

English Culture Minister David Lammy formally launched the UK's new
unified Institute of Conservation at a reception in Whitehall on 12
October.  Lammy said there needed to be much greater awareness of
heritage conservation, just as people now valued conservation of the
environment. He welcomed the formation of Icon as a tremendous step
in that direction and looked forward to working with Icon in the
future.  Around 200 people attended the event, including Members of
Parliament and leading figures from the world of conservation,
heritage, arts, libraries and archives. See
