Assistant Conservators The National Trust The National Trust is passionate about preserving the collections in our historic buildings, whilst making them accessible so the public can enjoy and learn about them. We have vacancies for two Assistant Conservators, who acquire training in all aspects of the Trust's conservation of collections and historic interiors. Assistant Conservator North National Trust Clumber Park, Worksop (5 days/week)UKP17,829 - 20,099 pa Up to one year fixed term contract This post offers an exciting opportunity to increase your knowledge and experience of preventive conservation in historic buildings by assisting the Territory Conservator (in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire), and working with the team of Conservators based in the North Territory. You will participate in a range of activities, ranging from practical housekeeping, to auditing standards and commissioning remedial conservation. Applicants must have a good first degree and a recognised conservation qualification. This could be one of your first jobs after training, but some experience of working in the conservation field is desirable. A clean driving licence is also required. Closing date: 2 September 2005 Interview date: 22 September 2005 (at Clumber Park Stableyard, Worksop, Notts S80 3BE) Assistant Conservator Centre National Trust Central Office, Swindon (5 days/week)UKP17,829 - 20,099 pa Up to one year fixed term contract You will develop a thorough understanding of conservation and collections care in historic houses by working with the central Conservation Advisers responsible for preventive and remedial conservation. This includes: undertaking environmental monitoring and control; understanding housekeeping strategies and methods; emergency procedures; and planning, prioritising and commissioning remedial conservation. There will be opportunities of visiting Trust properties in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Applicants must have a good first degree and a recognised conservation qualification. This could be one of your first jobs after training, but some experience of working in the conservation field is desirable. A clean driving licence is also required.
