The Walters Art Museum

The Conservation Division of The Walters Art Museum is accepting
applications for a full-time Assistant Conservator of Manuscripts
and Rare Books.  The incumbent will be responsible for the
documentation, structural and aesthetic treatment and re-housing of
illuminated manuscripts and printed books from the museum's
world-renowned collection.  Other duties of the position include
work for loans and exhibitions, grant writing, tracking budgets,
occasional teaching and technical research.

The incumbent must be a graduate of a recognized conservation
training program with a specialization in rare book conservation or
have equivalent experience.  Other requirements for the position
include strong bookbinding skills and knowledge of historical book
structures; good written and verbal communication skills; and
knowledge of basic computer programs.  Previous experience in the
conservation of manuscripts and parchment is preferred.  The salary
will be commensurate with the experience of the incumbent.  The
