Knowledge, valorization and diffusion of industrial heritage is an
ongoing and necessary task for countries' cultural growth, in which
research, conservation and educational experiences carried out in
nations, diverse contexts and realities always merit holding a
convention and exchanging opinions. This convention will undoubtedly
contribute to the groundwork laid by former conventions organized by
TICCIH aiming to raise consciousness as to the value of industrial
heritage, bringing together the realities of European countries and
the Americas in general. This convention to be held in Santiago,
Chile shall place emphasis on the discussion of sites, museums and
cases for the valorization of industrial heritage throughout the
world.

Getting to know possibilities and experiences regarding the use of
industrial heritage for conservation, tourism, museum, recycling and
educational purposes is highly important. It is of greatest interest
to the organizers that academics, professionals and students from
the Americas, Europe and the rest of the world attend the
convention. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all
participants.

Organized by TICCIH-Chile. Sponsored by TEXNH. Projects and

Objective: This convention has been organized in order to promote
the exchange of experiences and the updating of know-how regarding
the study, restoration and preservation of industrial heritage among
professionals, scholars and students interested in these issues. The
analysis and study of sites with heritage value, the implementation
of valorization projects and experience in execution of the same, as
well as museology and museography of these cases shall be of utmost
interest for the Convention.

Agenda: The Convention has been designed to center discussion and
consideration on the following working areas:

    Industrial Heritage Sites. Study, analysis, inventory, and
    cataloguing.

    Industrial Heritage Museums. Projects and examples implemented.

    Industrial Heritage Cases. Restoration, conservation and reuse
    in general.

Official Languages of the Convention: Spanish, Italian and English.

Participants: The Convention is especially designed for cultural
agents, engineers, architects, designers, urban planners,
historians, archaeologists, sociologists, museologists, landscapers
and ecologists. This invitation is extended to students, academics
and professionals interested in industrial heritage. Publication.

All participants shall receive the official publication with the
presentations selected upon registration for the Convention in
Santiago, Chile.

Registration Cost: This includes a copy of the Convention's book and
participation at all activities.

    Academics US$ 80 / CLP $ 50,000
    Students US$ 50 / CLP $ 30,000.

Call for papers:

Presentations may be made in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French
and Italian. Presentations are limited to no more than 15 pages, DIN
A4 paper, Arial 12 font, 3 cm margins on each side, and a document
in the Word format. Send attached document by e-mail. Up to 12 black
and white photographs may be included, no larger than 10x15 cm
digitalized to actual size 300 dpi. The presentations accepted shall
include a brief executive summary in Spanish and English. The text
of the presentation shall be identified with the name of the
author(s) without photographs, indicating only the position of the
same with the corresponding caption. All photographs must be
identified with the author's/authors' last name(s) and a correlation
number from 1 to 12 in order to establish the position of the same
in the text.
