Preventive conservation technician
Musees d'art et d'histoire, Geneva

The Musees d'art et d'histoire in Geneva, Switzerland, are looking
for a preventive conservation technician (permanent position, 50%).

The ideal candidate has got a relevant specialist qualification and
/ or several years experience with all aspects of preventive
conservation of museum collections. He/she possesses good mechanical
skills as well as being IT literate. He/she must communicate
efficiently with colleagues at all levels and demonstrate initiative
and independence in his work. The working language is French. A good
knowledge of English and a Swiss work permit would be a distinct
advantage.

Activities include all aspects of preventive conservation in one of
Switzerland's largest museums, such as cleaning and maintenance of
humidifiers, management of a stock of electronic dataloggers and
thermohydrographs, participation in the organization of temporary
and permanent exhibitions, materials testing, anoxic treatment of
organic objects against insect pests, and the training of gallery
supervisors and other technical staff.

You will be part of an active and motivated team of two scientists,
six conservators and two other technicians in the scientific and
conservation department of the museum.
