This position requires film preservation and conservation background
and skills, as well as extensive archival training and experience.
This is posted on behalf of John Dirks, Acting Team Leader for
Collections Management, Archives of Ontario.

An exciting opportunity exists with the Archives of Ontario to work
in a team environment as an Archivist in the Collections Management
functional team. Archivists at the Archives of Ontario acquire and
manage records with high evidential, informational and legal value
that document the key activities and decisions of the Government of
Ontario and the development of Ontario society. Working under the
leadership and guidance of a Senior Coordinator in the Collections
Management functional team you will: arrange/describe moving images
and related textual records in accordance with
professional/institutional standards, inspect/implement measures to
preserve moving images, prepare reports and provide reference
services.

Qualifications:  Working knowledge of archival science and archival
descriptive standards, including Rules for Archival Description;
working knowledge and experience in archival appraisal, acquisition,
arrangement and description, preservation and access issues; moving
image (film and video) formats/preservation issues; excellent
technical skills in inspection of physical condition, identification
of preservation issues, motion picture film repair; demonstrated
knowledge and understanding of legislation governing access and use
of Ontario Government records (e.g. Archives Act, FOI/PP Act,
Copyright Act); demonstrated oral and written communication, problem
solving, analytical, customer service, organizational, interpersonal
and negotiation skills; demonstrated ability to set priorities,
provide direction to contract staff (e.g. summer students, interns)
and to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
