The National Trust believes passionately in conserving the historic
interest and natural beauty of our environment, whilst encouraging
people to enjoy and learn about it.  The Trust has a vacancy for the
post of Territory Conservator South, who leads and manages five
Conservators based in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Anglia,
Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, East and
West Sussex.  This role is a stimulating and challenging opportunity
to ensure the delivery of a professional conservation service to the
Territory.

A 4 day/week portfolio of houses accompanies the post, to which the
successful candidate will provide advice and professional expertise
on preventive and remedial conservation of collections and historic
interiors. This includes training staff, setting and auditing
conservation standards, and managing conservation programmes, to
enable sustainable access.

Applicants must have a good first degree and a recognised
conservation qualification. ACR status is highly desirable. You will
have at least five years' practical experience of working as a
Conservator. You will have proved your ability to manage people, as
well as possessing excellent communication, team working,
organisational, planning and IT skills. The ability to promote the
interests of conservation is also required, and you will be able to
train, motivate and develop staff at all levels. A driving license
is also required.
