Scroll mounting

I have a piece of calligraphy on canvas (unprimed) about 31 1/2 x 11
1/2 inches, that I want to mount onto a blank paper hanging scroll.
I would like any suggestions regarding adhesives (glue, adhesive
film, etc.) and procedures.

Note: the canvas is heavier than the paper of the commercially
bought backing scroll.
