The Amon Carter Museum seeks applicants for the position of Paper
Conservator. This new position is supported by a grant from the
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and is on track for endowment. The
responsibilities of the conservator will be to examine, develop
treatment specifications for, and treat works on paper; provide
expertise regarding the care and treatment of illustrated books;
conduct condition surveys, analyze results, and assist in developing
action plans; develop an annual plan for preservation and
conservation; provide original research on the permanent collection
as related to special exhibition and publication projects;
participate in educational programs and emergency response and
environmental control initiatives; perform courier duties.

Requirements include an advanced degree in art conservation,
specializing in the conservation of works on paper; minimum five
years experience working in a museum conservation facility;
demonstrated excellence performing complex conservation treatments;
in-depth knowledge of the history, materials, and techniques of
drawing and printmaking; working knowledge of chemistry and
materials science; strong organizational skills; ability to work
collaboratively; excellent oral and written communications skills,
experience with MS Office, Photoshop, and database knowledge.
