I would like to suggest the following paper to Anne Bacon in
response to her request for information.  See "Painting on
Photographic Substrate: Materials and Techniques over the Past 100
Years" in the preprints to the symposium Historical Painting
Techniques, Materials and Studio Practice which took place in
Leiden, the Netherlands.  It was published by the Getty in 1995.
