>We are no longer able to purchase Johnson and Johnson Red Cross >Rolled Cotton. Does anyone have a good long chain cotton >substitute? Although it is not a substitute for J&J's Red Cross, we have long used shorter fiber, *unsterile* cotton as an alternative. Although it tends to shed more readily, the brand we use is much softer than the Red Cross. It rolls very well. And it is about 1 to 2 1/3 the cost of sterile cotton. (I suspect from the prices that some of the alternatives suggested in other posts are also *non-sterile). So, we use it for general use in the studio, reserving the Red Cross for special cases where the texture of the paint or stickiness of the process dictates the use of longer fiber stock.
