The Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU)

The Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research, NIKU, is an
accredited, autonomous body of expertise dedicated to the
preservation of cultural heritage and its vitality as a resource. We
provide professional services and knowledge to, among others,
heritage management authorities, planners, developers, and owners of
valuable cultural property. NIKU employs over 70 professionals
working in the fields of conservation, historic buildings and
archeology.

The department of conservation at NIKU works with the examination,
treatment, consultancy and research of  works of art, objects,
interiors and  historic buildings. At present, a team of 12
conservators work at NIKU's new premises in the centre of Oslo
(Storgt. 2), Norway.

NIKU is seeking 2 experienced conservators capable of working with
one or more of the following:

    *   Examination and practical conservation treatment of
        polychrome sculpture, easel paintings, wall paintings,
        painted surfaces and objects

    *   Architectural paint research

    *   Preventive conservation and monitoring

    *   Analysis and microscopy

Qualifications and requirements: Applicants should have;

    Master degree in conservation or the equivalent training and
    experience

    Ability to work independently as well as working in larger
    groups

    Be prepared to travel and carry out site work  (ex: working on
    scaffolding)

    Good communication skills

    Driving license

    Salary depends on the applicant's background and experience. NOK
    283 300 to 328 800 per annum.
