Earthquake materials

A variety of newfangled quake-proofing substances have been
appearing on the market which have the desirable ability to be
removed more quickly and easily than the various
microcrystalline-based quake waxes.  Two are available from Trevco
in California <URL:http://www.quakehold.com>: 'Clear Museum Gel', an
organopolysiloxane, and 'Quakehold! Museum Putty', a polyisobutylene
based mastic.  Has anyone carried out testing to determine whether
they are as effective as the quake waxes, remain inert and leave no
residues?
