The University of Kansas Libraries is seeking a Head of Preservation
with innovative ideas to oversee the Libraries' traditional
print-based preservation program and contribute to the University's
emerging digital preservation program.  Under the direction of the
Assistant Dean for Scholarly Communication and in cooperation with
library stakeholders, the Head of Preservation will develop and
establish preservation goals, objectives, programs, and policies;
will evaluate collections for preservation needs and will work in
close cooperation with subject librarians, curators, and the Head of
Collection Development in setting preservation priorities; will
pursue grant opportunities for special preservation programs and
oversee grant-funded projects; will develop and oversee analog and
digital reformatting programs, in collaboration with collection
development and digital initiatives staff; will provide leadership
for preservation internship programs; will maintain disaster plans,
coordinate training for the disaster response team, and oversee
responses to disasters; and will motivate and lead staff in a
productive and collaborative working environment.
