Assistant archaeological conservator
Arch Con Labs Ltd.

Arch Con Labs Ltd., the Archaeological conservation laboratory of
Margaret Gowen and Co., one of Ireland's largest archaeological
consultancy firms, is seeking an assistant archaeological
conservator.  The candidate must have a degree in archaeological
conservation or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 year's practical
experience.  The candidate must have a good knowledge of the
conservation of freshly excavated archaeological artefacts including
waterlogged organics, metals, and low-fired ceramics. Knowledge of
Irish archaeology would be an advantage.  In addition to practical
conservation of artefacts in the lab the candidate will occasionally
be asked to carry out on-site retrieval/block-lifting, provide
advice to excavators on handling and storage of finds, and carry out
x-radiography.

Additional Requirements: Computer literate/good report writing and
communication skills in English.  Personal skills required in the
candidate are the ability to meet tight deadlines, be highly
organized and team-oriented.  Salary for the position will be
commensurate with experience and will range from EURO20K-22k per
