UV protection for art installation

From: Michelle Gallagher <mgallagher<-a>

I need some assistance. An artist has inquired into protecting his
sculpture from direct sunlight. The sculpture is a terracotta vase
painted (not glazed) with acrylics and covered in a water-based
varnish. This piece will be displayed outside in direct sunlight.
The sculpture is not a museum piece. The artist would like to know
if there is any coating that can be applied to the surface which
will stop the acrylic paints from fading and hopefully not change
the colors too drastically. Displaying the piece indoors is not an
option.
