Subject: Silicone
Anita Quye asked about the collections care aspect of silicone objects. Some years ago we heard of a silicone rubber artwork--the cast of a tyre tread--which had formed a yellowish stain, possibly silicone oil leaching out of the rubber itself. At the time, the best remedy seemed to be to take a mould of the artwork and make a replica in new silicone rubber as a back-up before attempting to treat the stain.
