Suspended floors

I am interested in historic and modern buildings or archaeological
sites that have made use of suspended glass floors to protect (from
foot traffic) fragile areas of pavement.  I am researching this as a
method of historic floor conservation.  I am looking at the
arguments for and against this type of approach, durable materials,
microclimates, all the usual questions.  I am just at the beginning
of this research so any leads would be gratefully accepted.
